Agatha Christie’s Wider Family

In October 2024, I was invited onto the podcast She Wrote Too, hosted by Nicola Morgan and Caroline Rance, to talk about Agatha Christie and what lead her to be the best-selling author ever, after the Bible and Shakespeare. We had a very interesting chat and I encourage you to listen to it (and other episodes) when it is released in November.

Agatha Christie’s wider family was hugely influential on her life and writing. These two working trees – draw up to collect and collate information and to allow connections to be made between individuals and events – show her maternal West family tree and her grandmaternal Kelsey family tree.

As a collection of information, it is a quick reference point to look at other things in her family tree that may be interesting, in more depth, hence the key of occupations, causes of death and foster or sponsor relationships.

These trees are discussed in-depth with Nicola on She Wrote Too, and are the first steps in building a wider network of familial and social relationships for Agatha Christie which shed great light on her behaviour, her family’s behaviours and her place in the pantheon of women writers between the wars.
